How to manage approvers in sequential order?

Now you can provide sequential approval procedure for documents and document group in Doccontrol.

While managing approvers, we can define approval process as one of the following:
– Sequential
– Concurrent

If sequential process is selected, user now have option to order the approvers and save the order. Approvers will receive approval requests in sequential order as defined for the document or document group. If any approver rejects the document, document will be marked rejected and the approvers ahead in the sequence will not receive the approval request.
If Concurrent process is selected, it will work same like the old approval process.

How to access Pending Review Requests?

Easy access to Pending Review Requests:
After reviewing a document, the user stays at the View Document page, unlike Approval Requests process.
This makes it tedious to manually go back to the dashboard and apply the “Pending My Review” filter each time the user has to review bunch of documents.

To save you time we have updated the process. If the user goes to the “View Document” page from the “Pending My Review” filter and reviews the document, the user will be redirected back to the “Pending My Review” filter on the dashboard automatically once done.

This will save you the user significant amount of time.

Currently both Pending Approval Requests and Pending Retirement Requests are coming on the dashboard under the “Pending My Approval” filter. It is tough to differentiate between them.

To solve this commonly pointed out issue we have decided to split these two requests on the screen
Now the “Pending My Approval” filter will be replaced by following two new filters:

  • Approval Requests
  • Retirement Requests

To maintain symmetry, we have also renamed the Pending My Review to Review Requests.

How I can fix hidden scroll bars on Mac ?

The scroll bar does not appear on my Mac system and I cannot access some of the documents.

When you open DocControl application on a Mac OS X Lion computer, the scroll bar in the views might not appear. To resolve this issue, you can change the OS setting to “Always” show scroll bars as follows.

Step 1
On the Apple menu, select System Preferences > General.

Step 2
Under Show scroll bars, select Always.

What can I do to be able to use the site when certain links do not work?

I’m using the website for my class, but some pages don’t load or certain links don’t do anything when I click them. What can I do to be able to use the site?

Chrome features a pop-up blocker that can prevent new windows from opening. When it does, you’ll briefly see the message “Pop-up blocked” in the address bar.

You can allow pop-ups from a site that you’re visiting by clicking the blocked pop-up icon, selecting “Always allow pop-ups from [address of site]”, and clicking Done.

We recommend turning off all pop-up blockers while using Pearson websites. You can turn off the Chrome pop-up blocker by following the instructions below. If you choose to leave the Chrome pop-up blocker on, please configure it to recognize the sites you use as exceptions.

Turning Off the Pop-Up Blocker

1. Open Chrome and click the Chrome menu (), or in older versions, the wrench

Managing Exceptions

Note: Leaving the pop-up blocker on and configuring exceptions may not allow all of the features of Pearson websites to function as designed and can prevent you from passing the browser check. If you have configured exceptions in the pop-up blocker but have observed unexpected behavior while using Pearson websites, please turn the pop-up blocker off.

How do I retire a document?

Click on Request Retirement. A request for retirement will be forwarded to all current document approvers.

Which type of documents can be added?

Technically any type of document can be added to DocControl, but to take advantage of the auto-PDF functionality, the following DocTypes are recommended: MSOffice (Word, Powerpoint and Excel), OpenOffice, LibreOffice, PDF, Image files (JPG, GIF, PNG and others). Support for additional file-types are added regularly!

What is a template?

A template is a special area of DocControl where approved document templates can be stored. To start a new document using a template, simply click on the template, add a name select a document group!

How do I manage Access to documents?

Administrators can control access to document groups by assigning privileges to users and user groups. Read/ Write and View only privileges can be assigned.
